Huron County Deputies Arrest Drive-By Shooting Suspects

HURON COUNTY, Mich. — Late on December 11, Huron County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men suspected of involvement in a drive-by shooting in Clawson, Michigan. Acting on a Be On the Lookout (BOL) alert issued by Clawson Police, deputies located and detained the suspects in a coordinated operation near the Oak Beach area and along M-25.

The suspects, described as homeless individuals from the Detroit area, were arrested without incident during a vehicle stop early Thursday morning. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson confirmed the arrests in a press release.

Timeline of Events

The BOL alert indicated the suspects might travel to Huron County to stay with a friend in the Oak Beach area. At approximately 12:20 a.m., a Huron County deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by Clawson Police. Deputies followed the vehicle as it moved southbound on M-25.

Additional deputies and an Elkton Police officer coordinated a stop in an open area near Bay Port. The suspects were taken into custody without incident. The driver of the vehicle was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Evidence and Suspects Transferred to Clawson Police

The suspect vehicle, along with other items seized by Huron County deputies, was turned over to Clawson Police as evidence. The two suspects were also transferred to Clawson Police custody on Thursday afternoon to face felony charges related to the drive-by shooting.

“This swift and seamless coordination between multiple agencies highlights the dedication of law enforcement in ensuring public safety,” said Sheriff Hanson.

Broader Context of Crime Prevention

This incident underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in apprehending suspects across jurisdictions. Law enforcement agencies continue to emphasize the need for public vigilance and timely communication to aid in investigations and prevent further crimes.
