Right-of-Way Mistake In Lamotte Township Leads to Collision, Sends One to Hospital

A collision at Sanilac and Germania roads leaves one injured; investigation confirms no alcohol or drug involvement.

Driver Transported to McLaren Port Huron After Failing to Yield

LAMOTTE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A two-vehicle crash in Lamotte Township on October 22, 2024, left one person injured after a Ford Flex collided with a Chevrolet pickup truck at the intersection of Sanilac and Germania roads. Emergency responders, including the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Department, Lamotte Township Fire Department, and Sanilac and Marlette EMS, arrived on scene shortly after 2:50 p.m. following reports of the incident.

According to an initial investigation by Sanilac County deputies, a 62-year-old woman from Port Huron, driving the 2017 Ford Flex southbound, failed to yield the right-of-way to an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet pickup. The pickup’s driver, a 43-year-old man from Ohio, attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.

One Transported for Medical Treatment

The Chevrolet driver was uninjured, but the Ford Flex occupants were assessed by EMS on scene. The 61-year-old front seat passenger of the Ford Flex was transported by Marlette EMS to McLaren Port Huron Hospital for further treatment of injuries. No other serious injuries were reported, and the remaining occupants were treated on site.

Authorities confirmed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. All occupants involved in the collision were reported to be wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
