Michigan Travelers Win Big with Allegiant’s Route Surge – New Nonstops from Flint and Grand Rapids

Allegiant Air unveils its largest expansion yet, introducing 44 nonstop routes and three new cities, with flights starting at just $39.

Allegiant’s Boldest Move Yet Brings More Options for Michigan Travelers

Allegiant Air is set to transform air travel across the Midwest and beyond, announcing its largest expansion in company history with 44 new nonstop routes. The airline is adding three new cities—Gulf Shores, Alabama, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Columbia, South Carolina—to its growing network. Michigan travelers stand to benefit as Allegiant introduces new routes from Grand Rapids’ Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) and Flint’s Bishop International Airport (FNT).

To celebrate this milestone, Allegiant is offering one-way fares as low as $39, emphasizing its commitment to budget-friendly travel.

This announcement dovetails with Allegiant Air’s announcement of new nonstop routes to Florida starting November 2024. The Grand Rapids to Palm Beach route will offer fares from $69, while Flint to Destin-Fort Walton Beach starts at $59.

Expanding Access to Vacation Hotspots

North Myrtle Beach

The expansion includes routes connecting underserved communities to popular vacation destinations. Highlights for Michigan travelers include:

  • Grand Rapids (GRR) to Myrtle Beach, SC (MYR), starting May 22, 2025, at $59 one-way.
  • Flint (FNT) to Newark, NJ (EWR), beginning May 23, 2025, at $49 one-way.

“These additions reflect our ongoing commitment to meet customer demand,” said Drew Wells, Allegiant’s Chief Commercial Officer. “By connecting more cities, we’re making it easier for travelers to visit family and friends, access top leisure destinations, and create new memories.”

Affordable Flights for Budget-Conscious Travelers

Allegiant’s expansion strategy caters to leisure travelers seeking low-cost, convenient options. Known for its ultra-low fares and nonstop routes, Allegiant connects smaller cities to larger hubs, reducing costs and travel time. The move comes as demand for affordable leisure travel remains strong, particularly during peak periods like holidays and summer breaks.

Key highlights include:

  • Flint (FNT) to Portland, OR (PDX), launching May 23, 2025, with fares starting at $79.
  • Grand Rapids (GRR) to Jacksonville, FL (JAX), starting May 23, 2025, at $59 one-way.

Strengthening Regional Travel Ties

This historic expansion underscores Allegiant’s role in connecting Michigan communities to nationwide destinations. The airline’s business model—serving underserved airports with limited options—resonates with travelers seeking convenience and affordability.

Broader Context: A Strategic Push

The expansion is driven by increasing leisure demand and aligns with Allegiant’s focus on periods of high travel activity, such as school vacations and summer holidays. As Allegiant enters 2025, its growing network solidifies its position as a key player in regional air travel.

For Michigan travelers, the addition of nonstop routes and new destinations opens up possibilities for affordable vacations, family visits, and weekend getaways.
