The end of summer tradition is approaching! The Thumb Arts Guild’s Annual Juried Art Fair is set to take place this Labor Day weekend at Gallup Park in Port Austin. This is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in a diverse array of stunning artwork from local and statewide artisans. From pottery and paintings to photography, jewelry, and fiber woven artwork, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Check out the vibrant displays at our art stands. You’ll find everything from beautiful glass art to rustic pieces and even fun activities like face painting for the kids. The fair will host over 50 artists from the local Port Austin galleries and across Michigan, all showcasing and selling their unique works. This two-day event, running from 10 am to 5 pm, offers not only just art but also live entertainment, delicious food and snacks, and activities for kids.
The Thumb Arts Guild is a proud non-profit organization, established back in 2001. It’s made up of artists and supporters of the arts from throughout Huron County, Michigan, and it’s grown from just 24 original members to over 80! The guild’s mission is to enrich life through the promotion and encouragement of art-making and the appreciation of all phases of the arts. The Port Austin Art in the Park Event is a highlight of the last days of summer in the Upper Thumb.
The Upper Thumb region is home to three galleries. The Lofty Roots Gallery and Studio in Bad Axe, which opened in 2015, features work from six local artists. Grindstone City’s White Church Gallery showcases artists from across Michigan and the United States, while the Cove Gallery in Port Austin exhibits works from over 55+ Michigan artists, many of whom are from the Thumb region.
