7 Unrivaled Michigan Blogs You Absolutely Must Explore Now!

I’m always on the hunt for Michigan-based blogs and websites that are created by individuals who love to share their experiences of the state. These could be writers, photographers, or artists – anyone who has a story to tell about Michigan. I’m not just looking for surface-level stuff, I want to dive deep into the topics and really understand them – beyond what you might find in a Buzzfeed-like post. And yes, I’ll admit it, I like to compare my own work with theirs too.

You’d be surprised how many of these sites are run by individuals or small teams, without the backing of a large organization. They’re not getting any funding or resources, so you can tell it’s a true labor of love. Finding these hidden gems among the clutter of the internet was a bit of a challenge, but once I found a site I liked, I added it to my list. Hopefully, you’ll find them useful too. If you know of any others that I might have missed, feel free to drop me a note.

One of the sites that caught my attention is The Lakeshore Guardian. It’s a Michigan website that supports a monthly newspaper and has been around since 1999. Covering Huron, Sanilac, St. Clair, and Tuscola Counties, it’s packed with great stories and detailed coverage of the region’s historical events. It’s a dream come true for any researcher, thanks to the sheer volume of historical posts.

Another gem is j’adore Detroit. This blog is run by a team of four writers who cover everything about Detroit. Whether you’re looking for the best restaurant to try out over the weekend, or you’re new to the city and need suggestions on where to go, this blog has got you covered.

Life in Michigan is another blog that I really enjoy. Brenda and Chuck, the two writers behind this blog, cover the Michigan music and craft beer scene with colorful reviews and lively photos. They also share their travel adventures in the hope of inspiring their readers to visit these places.

The Awesome Mitten is one of the larger blogs with at least nine writers and contributors. They cover a wide range of Michigan hotspots, communities, businesses, and people. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to explore Michigan.

A Dangerous Business Travel Blog is a one-woman travel blog that targets the Millennial and Gen X audience. While the blog’s author, Amanda, is from Ohio, she often ventures into Michigan and writes about her experiences there.

Enjoy Michigan Playground is a blog that I really admire. Run by two brothers who were raised in the U.P., this blog is dedicated to exploring the entire state of Michigan and sharing its world-class features and quaint quiet moments.

Lost in Michigan is a blog that I’ve been following for years. The writer and photographer behind this blog, Mike Sonnenberg, takes his readers on a journey through some of the most unique and seldom traveled roads and trails in Michigan.

Traveling Michigan is a blog run by a couple who outline their travels around the Great Lake state. They provide descriptions and details for just about every major town and city in Michigan.

In conclusion, these seven Michigan-based blogs offer a rich tapestry of experiences and insights into the state. From historical events to music and craft beer reviews, these blogs are a treasure trove of information for anyone interested in Michigan. #MichiganBlogs #TravelBlogs
