7 Unbelievable Reasons Why a Saginaw Bay Sunrise with Coffee is the Perfect Start to Your Day!

I don’t often get the chance to really appreciate a Saginaw Bay sunrise. In the hustle and bustle of getting ready for work, feeding the kids, and letting the dog out, when was the last time you took a moment to watch the sun rise? Interestingly, the western shore of Michigan’s Thumb offers an excellent view of both sunrise and sunset along the coastline.

Check out this video I took one early fall Saturday, sipping hot coffee and watching my dog explore the beach, just before the sun came up. There’s something special about the quiet of the moments before sunrise. You’ll notice how the lake seems to come alive as the sun’s rays hit it. This is just a taste of a Saginaw Bay Sunrise.

If you’re looking for great places to watch the sunrise (and sunset) in The Thumb, I’ve got a few suggestions. Wagener County Park is the most eastern of Huron County Parks, so you’ll catch the sunrise first there. Lighthouse County Park, Jenks Roadside Park, Port Crescent State Park, Oak Beach County Park, Philp County Park, and Sleeper State Park also offer stunning sunrise and sunset views.
