4 Illicit Massage Parlors Busted in Statewide Operation – Michigan’s Largest Trafficking Bust

Michigan authorities uncover massive trafficking operation, freeing victims and arresting key players in a coordinated multi-agency effort.

Human Trafficking Ring Dismantled in Detroit Suburbs

LANSING – A sweeping investigation led by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has culminated in the arrests of multiple individuals connected to a massive international human trafficking ring. The operation targeted illicit massage parlors across Wayne and Macomb Counties, freeing seven to nine victims and resulting in significant charges against several suspects.

The investigation, which began in the summer of 2024, focused on dismantling a sophisticated network involved in commercial sex trafficking. Search and arrest warrants were executed at four locations, uncovering harrowing details about the exploitation of women of Chinese and Korean origin.

The implicated establishments include:

  • 111 Healing Studio, St. Clair Shores (Harper near 12 Mile Rd)
  • AM Healing Studio, Sterling Heights (Metro Parkway and Mound)
  • Magic Health Spa, Detroit (8 Mile Rd and Lahser)
  • 8 Star, Detroit (8 Mile near I-75)

“This operation dismantled one of the largest human trafficking rings Michigan has ever uncovered,” said Nessel. “Thanks to collaborative efforts, we’ve shut down four illegal establishments and freed victims from an appalling cycle of exploitation.”

HSI Detroit Special Agent in Charge Angie M. Salazar underscored the importance of the effort. “We remain committed to combating trafficking and exploitation. By leveraging our global network, we’re disrupting these criminal enterprises here in Michigan and beyond.”

Key Figures Arrested and Charged in Trafficking Scheme

Five individuals have been charged in connection with the trafficking ring. They face felony charges ranging from conducting a criminal enterprise to money laundering and accepting earnings from prostitution.

The accused include:

  • Jingyu Jin, 45, identified as the ringleader. Felony charges include conducting a criminal enterprise, conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution.
  • Huazi Piao, charged with similar crimes, including maintaining houses of prostitution.
  • Jon Villasurda, a Michigan resident, accused of aiding the enterprise.
  • Oumar Lougue, 53, a non-citizen from West Africa, charged with multiple felonies.
  • Ming Li, 59, an undocumented immigrant, facing charges of conducting a criminal enterprise and maintaining houses of prostitution.

The charges are filed in the 36th District Court in Detroit and the 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores, with arraignments expected in the coming days.

Victims Rescued and Support Systems Activated

The victims, described as vulnerable individuals coerced into labor and sexual exploitation, have been connected with local support services. Authorities emphasized the importance of victim support and public awareness in addressing human trafficking.

Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center at 888-373-7888 or text 233733. The hotline operates 24/7 and provides confidential assistance.

Broader Implications for Human Trafficking Prevention

This operation shines a spotlight on the persistent issue of human trafficking in Michigan. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to tackling such crimes through proactive investigations and cross-agency cooperation. The takedown also highlights the need for community vigilance and awareness to prevent future exploitation.
