10 Unbelievable Tales of Ernest Hemingway’s Michigan Mondays You Won’t Believe!

Hey there, it’s the final post of a series we’ve been doing, inspired by our fellow blogger and book lover, Catherine Beeman. She’s got a decade worth of experience in bookselling and we’ve been sharing her Michigan Monday articles every Monday throughout summer 2021. This last one is all about the famous Michigan author, Ernest Hemingway.

Did you know that Hemingway was actually born in Oak Park, Illinois? But his family bought land on Walloon Lake near Petoskey and built a cottage there, known as either the Ernest Hemingway Cottage or Windemere. Up until 2015, it was still in the Hemingway family, owned by his nephew. There’s a ton of material out there about Hemingway, from his own writings to works by his contemporaries and biographers. I’m not going to dive too deep into it because it’s a journey worth taking on your own.
