10 Unbelievable Reasons Why The Kinde Polka Fest is Michigan’s Thumb’s Best Kept Secret this September!

Hey folks, guess what? The Kinde Polka Fest is back in action this Labor Day weekend, and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever! We’ve got over 60 amazing volunteers and two days jam-packed with Polka entertainment at the Friends of Kinde Palace. We’re hoping to match, if not surpass, the fantastic turnout we had in the pre-COVID years.

Get ready to lace up your running shoes because the festivities begin bright and early on Saturday, Sept. 14th, with a 5K run at 9 am. This run-walk event isn’t just for fitness enthusiasts, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to contribute towards athletic scholarships.

We’ve got musicians from near and far ready to perform and get you all grooving to some great Polka tunes. Some are local, some are from neighboring states like New York and Pennsylvania, and some are from as close as Chicago. Polka Paul, our festival’s master of ceremonies, will kick off the show at 2 p.m. on Saturday and at Noon on Sunday. Entry is just $15 for adults, $10 for those aged 16-20, and free for kids 15 and under.

All the performances will take place in the Friends of Kinde Palace, a spacious old-time dance hall built in 2017 specifically for this event. Here’s a sneak peek of the band lineup for the festival, which includes both seasoned performers and crowd favorites, promising an unforgettable celebration of polka music.

Our Sunday program, Sept. 15, starts with a breakfast/brunch benefiting North Huron School’s National Honor Society and student council. St. Mary of Czestochowa will also be hosting a Polka Mass starting at 10 a.m.

And just for fun, let’s delve a little into the history of Polka music! This lively dance music has been enjoyed for centuries and has roots in several Eastern European countries including Austria, Bohemia, Poland, Germany, and Serbia. Each of these countries has made their own unique contribution to the vibrant rhythms and fast tempos that we associate with Polka music today.

In summary, the Kinde Polka Fest promises to be a weekend of non-stop music, dancing, and camaraderie. Whether you’re a longtime Polka fan or new to the genre, you’re guaranteed to have a blast. So put on your dancing shoes and join us at the Friends of Kinde Palace for a weekend of lively tunes and festive atmosphere. Don’t miss out on the polka fun!
