10 Fearless Warriors Braving Below Zero Temps at Shanty Days 2015: Unmissable Heroism!

Hey there! Do you remember back in 2015 when Caseville’s Shanty Days had to be postponed because of the freezing cold? The temperatures were so low, they were literally below zero! But that didn’t stop some brave souls from getting out there in the snow and playing broomball at the county park. It was a total white-out, but they didn’t seem to mind.

While the outdoor conditions were pretty miserable, there were others who preferred to stay indoors. We found ourselves at the Thumb Brewery on a Saturday night, and boy was it buzzing! They had a bunch of new brews on tap, and we couldn’t resist trying them all. The Kona Coffee Stout and the Hefeweizen were our favorites, and the staff were super helpful in explaining the different brews. The place was packed, the live entertainment was great, and the chatter amongst the customers was lively. It felt like everyone was there to try out the new brews.

After we’d had our fill at the brewery, we decided to head over to The Boathouse. We were seated right away and quickly dug into their delicious hot avocado dip. It was the perfect way to warm up after our chilly walk through the snow. They serve the best walleye in the Thumb, and the full fillet meal comes with your choice of sides and a salad. One of our group tried the wings and said they tasted just like the ones from the famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York. We ended the evening by watching a fierce pool tournament in the back of The Boathouse. We all agreed that the seats around the pool table were the warmest in all of Caseville that night.
